Q & A
Bouquets with Bling

Q & A

Are roses the best choice?

Roses are a durable and sturdy flower and last fairly well out of water, if constructed the right way.  This is why we have chosen the clustered hand tied bouquet, it supports the roses and petals when the begin to dehydrate. If you re-cut the stems at your reception and place your bouquet in water, your  flowers will most definitely last longer.

Either way, your bouquet will look fabulous and last the duration of the day, considering you treat them nicely!!

I don`t like roses, can I have another flower instead?

Bouquets With Bling has been designed specifically for roses. We can substitute for another flower if you had a favourite in mind.

Tulips are also a very good choice, but they are available for a certain time of year only.

Unfortunately, larger headed blooms such as Oriental lilies, Most tropicals, and most natives like the Banksia or Protea are too big for this design.  The crystal and pearl clusters get lost in amongst and are very hard to notice.

Delivery or Pick Up?

Delivery by me myself is the preferred method.  This ensures the flowers are hand delivered by myself and in perfect condition.  Couriers are used only as a last resort.

I also like to see the Bride on her big day and watch her face when she opens the box to see the flowers for the first time! It still is one of my favourite parts of the business!

Pick Up is an option, but must be organised in advance and an exact time agreed upon.

The vehicle must be air conditioned and large enough to fit the box in completely upright.

Delivery - Brisbane Address: $45

Delivery - Gold Coast Address: $85

Delivery - Sunshine Coast Address: $85 - $90

Delivery -Outer Regions eg: Toowoomba $100 +

Why is the bouquet style only a clustered hand tied bouquet?

This is by far the most popular style of bouquet for weddings.  The roses are tightly brought together by their natural stems to create a rounded arrangement.  This means the crystals can be placed easily and safely amongst the blooms for maximum effect.  The flowers are then surrounded by glossy camellia leaves at the base of the bouquet to frame the flowers and create a nice border. Generally it features the same blooms in the same colour to create a design that goes with most styles of gowns.

How do my flowers arrive on the day?

Your wedding flowers arrived packaged in a special white wedding box designed for flowers.  Your bouquets will be wrapped delicately in tissue paper to protect the petals etc.

Every natural stem bouquet will be wrapped in a plastic water bag so that it is drinking right up until it is needed for photos.

Its best to leave the bouquets in the box until they are needed and to not handle them before you have to.

Buttonholes, Corsages and Hair flowers will be in a corsage container which can be placed in the Crisper section of a fridge to keep them cool.  The other section your fridge is too cold and may freeze your flowers.

An air conditioned room is best to keep your flowers, or if your accommodation has a cool room specially designed for flowers fruit and vegetables this will also be ok.

At every opportunity, I will personally deliver your flowers to you on your special day.  There is nothing better than seeing a happy bride!

Is there a period when roses are not at their peak?

Mother nature is a tricky woman!!  Generally in the winter months if there is a lot of frosty conditions, Roses can suffer and not produce as much as other seasons.  So from about July to August the availability is reduced, so supplies are limited.  This just means we should get your order well in advance to allow for growers to cut appropriate quantities.  If there is ever a shortage, you will be notified well in advance.

How will I know the colours will match my gowns and dresses?

If you are unsure of a colour choice, simply email a picture of your gowns or send me a fabric sample. I can then give you nice suggestions for colour combinations to suit and compliment.

Its sometimes nice to have a slight variation in colours anyway, so that the clusters stand out in your bouquets.

How do I care for my wedding flowers?

I don`t live in Brisbane, but I am getting married there, how will I organise my wedding flowers?

I am happy to organise all your wedding flowers via email and even by phone.

In fact I have done a lot of weddings for Brides living overseas or interstate and they find it easy and pain free to do everything online.

I usually email images of the crystals and pearls and if you can post a sample of the fabric we can use this as a match when ordering the flowers and ribbon.

I know flowers can be expensive, but what are the hidden costs involved?

Is there a minimum spend?

Yes, there is a minimum spend of $500 for all weddings.

Can I preserve my bouquet?

Yes! There is a link to a website in the Contacts section for bouquet preservation.

When do I need to organise my flowers?

Once you have all your colours chosen and your gowns colours are definite then you should think about your flowers.

We usually like between 6 - 9 months notice but this time frame does vary according to bookings and availability.

All quotes are valid for 12 months, anything outside this range is too hard to predict what price changes there may be etc.

Who needs a buttonhole?

Buttonholes are traditionally worn by the groom, his groomsmen and the father of the Bride & Groom.  But some people like a special guest or an official member of the reception like the MC may wear a similar buttonhole to the wedding party.  Normally, the buttonhole matches the choice of flowers in the brides bouquet and of course the rose is the most popular choice for men.

Who should wear a corsage?

Corsages are generally worn by the Mothers of the Bride and the Groom.  Although it is important to match the type of flower in the Brides bouquet with the flower in the corsages, the colour should also compliment the wearers dress or gown.  For our corsages we use spray roses which are tiny roses.  The colours of these spray roses are limited, you can choose from white, champagne, pale pink, hot pink, yellow and cream.  We find that if in doubt, choose a neutral colour like cream or white and this should compliment most dresses and gowns.  Also you can choose from a wrist corsage or a dress corsage.

How much should I budget for my flowers?

Ideally, you should not dismiss the more visible items on the day.  Some brides will pay whatever it costs for the perfect look.  Just keep in mind that the price should reflect the quality of the bouquet, and that the flowers will be a focal point in many of the photos, it pays to consider your choice carefully.  Check out our wedding packages and special deals!
